Working for myself has been the passion of my life time. When I graduated from college, I just knew I couldn’t get one of those starter jobs that all my friends were applying for.

Instead, I forged my own path and pursued a career as a professional actress. Although I was successful to a degree, I knew I’d really found my place when I gave up acting to become one of the early adopters of coaching (I was the 199th person to enroll at CoachU, one of the first coaching schools, and one of the first 40 people to receive the Master Certified Coach designation. I even headed the team that wrote the definition of coaching for the International Coach Federation.)

Along the way, I faced all the bumps and lumps most new business owners do. Forcing myself to make “scary” calls to get the clients I needed for a full practice, losing half my business in one month, moving to a new town with a totally different economy, dealing with deadbeat clients who didn’t show up, or didn’t pay me for my work, getting speaking opportunities but not knowing how to sell from the stage, offering programs that flopped. You name it, I’ve probably been through it!

Even as my business grew, there were always new challenges to face: going from private to group coaching, offering new programs, redesigning and redefining who I was in business, raising my prices, all the doubts and fears that come with changing what’s tried and true to try something different.
